The first year of your baby’s life will fly by. It will also bring some of the biggest lifestyle changes for you. I put together this list of best baby products to register for because these products helped us get through our first year with Lucas and will greatly help you with your first year with baby.
There is nothing more nerve wracking than trying to figure out exactly what you need when your newborn baby arrives. The amount of baby products is endless and it can be difficult to find the best baby products that are actually useful.
There are important things to remember when you are purchasing baby products. Spend more money on things that grow with your quickly growing baby. Sometimes it’s worth the convenience to get a product you don’t necessarily need. Finally, craigslist is your best parenting friend. When your child finally grows out of using any of these items, sell them.
There are few things you can do to make this whole parenting thing a lot easier. One of those things is signing up for Amazon Family. For about 2 to 3 years you will be purchasing diapers galore. With Amazon Family you save 20% on diaper subscriptions that delivery your diapers directly to your door.
I highly recommend setting up an Amazon Baby Registry. This way people can buy gifts for your little one and have them shipped directly to your home. There is less likely for duplicates that you will spend hours returning and replacing. The Amazon Baby Registry makes shopping easy for your friends and family.
When To Register For Baby
You should start your registry in the second trimester. This is when you are going to feel your best so if you need to do any leg work in finding what to register for this is the time to do it.
The other reason why you want to register in the second trimester is because in most cases the baby can come anytime from 36 weeks on. Being prepared by the 36 week mark means you will feel less stress during those last weeks. You can focus on sleeping, relaxing, and enjoying those kicks and somersaults in your body.
25 Of The Best Baby Products
Below are the products that we used during the first 2 years of our child’s life. I still use some of them even now that he is 3.
Best Baby Skin Care Products and Health Products
The Angelcare Baby Bath Support really helped with bathing our newborn son. It sits right in the bathtub making it easy to wash his hair and body with ease but keeping him safe.
I swear by this bath wash and the matching lotion below. It helps to get your child relaxed so that they sleep soundly through the night. It’s especially useful when your baby goes through sleep regressions.
Use this on your baby for the nights they don’t need a bath and they will sleep soundly through the night.
This is fantastic for babies that get cradle cap. Cradle cap is like dandruff take little bits of this and rub into the areas with dry scalp. Gently use a comb to remove pieces of the cradle cap from their hair.
This healthcare and grooming kit has everything you need for your newborn baby. Safety nail clippers, emery boards, brush, comb, nasal aspirator, and medicine bottle dispenser.
I thought I was super lucky we went 2 years before we suddenly had to deal with diaper rash. We tried recommended diaper rash creams and found this one is the best. It clears up diaper rash in less than a day.
It is difficult to convince your baby to keep a thermometer in their armpit, it just ends in tears. This thermometer quickly takes their temperature just by touching their forehead.
Best Baby Teether and Pacifiers
These teether keys worked well for easing teething pain for our son. You can leave them thawed or use them cold.
I really didn’t want to use pacifiers but after two days of almost constant crying I finally relented. Some babies are pacifier babies and these are the best they are great for breastfed and bottle fed babies.
Once your baby grows past 6 months you can replace the pacifier with one better fit for their mouth.
Best Baby Play Time Products
This is fantastic for floor time with your infant. The edge around the floor mat keeps balls and toys in the play area. Floor time is important and will help your child to hit important milestones.
The swing is a fantastic purchase. Lucas loved sitting in his swing and oftentimes would fall asleep easily in it.
A saucer is a great way to help your kid build up their leg strength and get them ready for walking. I prefer a saucer over a walker because in a saucer they stay in one spot, in a walker they will disappear on you quickly.
The playward was perfect from the get go. Not only is their a cozy bassinet that your baby can sleep in during the day or next to your bed at night. There is a changing station and as your child grows they can play in the playpen while you get in a quick shower.
Best Baby Travel Gear
I recommend getting a travel system instead of just a car seat because the car seat will easily fit in with the stroller. I absolutely trust Graco for their strollers and car seats.
If you have your heart set on a different stroller this is a fantastic car seat that will last through the first 2 years.
Best Baby Feeding Products
You want to have this bottle brush. It’s long lasting and works well in getting your bottles clean. This works with almost every bottle type so you don’t need Dr. Brown Bottles for it to work.
We used two types of bottles and they both worked well. The Avent bottles worked well with the breast pump I was using.
Dr. Browns bottles are fantastic and keep the air to a minimum so burping and gas isn’t an issue.
The breast pump I used is no longer available, however, this breast pump is fantastic. Not only does it come with a backpack for easy travel but it’s the top of the line when it comes to breast pumps.
This highchair will get your through infancy and all the way through toddlerhood. The chair can disconnect from the legs and be placed on a regular chair. It grows with your kid and actually travels fairly easily.
Best Baby Wearing Products
My husband and I had different baby wearing styles. This was more his style with an actual carrier. It balances weight nicely and makes baby wearing easy.
The Boba Wrap was more my style for baby wearing. It takes a bit getting used to and you may need two people for a while when doing the wrap. It’s a great way to do baby wearing.
Best Baby Safety and Monitoring Products
This is the best gate and works well. The walk through gate means you don’t need to step over a gate. It fits well in most doorways and there are extensions so that I can use it in larger doorways too.
This is a fantastic baby monitor. I know most people will go for the typical walkie talkie like baby monitors. The pro to having this monitor is when you decide you need to check to make sure your child is breathing, don’t laugh it will happen, you can easily do so without disturbing or possibly waking your infant.
Preparing Baby Products For Sale
There are a few ways that you can make money back on your baby products when you are done using them. You can sell them on Craigslist or at a resale shop. Chances are higher you will make more money selling them on Craigslist.
First make sure you wash up all the baby products. Outside of fabric you can put most of the hard plastic items in the shower to wash off. Once they are washed and dried put them back together and take well lit pictures of them.
Pictures are everything when you are selling items on Craigslist. Make sure the images are well lit and cropped to highlight the item you are selling. Great pictures will help you to sell the items faster.
These products will make bringing a baby into your home a lot easier. They will help with the development of your infant and grow with them. Remember to get Amazon Family to save 20% on diapers. Also, make sure you set up your baby registry through Amazon in order to make shopping easier.
