Have you ever noticed that when fall hits you start massively craving comfort foods? It happens to me every year. However, with the new busy fall schedule comfort food usually means ordering a pizza or getting Five Guys. To help save money while still getting comfort food quality I’ve put together a list of delicious slow cooker recipes.
As it gets colder and our lives are get busier it’s common to stop eating healthy. Our bodies naturally want to store fat for the colder weather which is why comfort food is extremely popular in the fall or winter months.
Unfortunately, the craving for comfort food mixed with a busy schedule often times leads to ordering or eating out. This can be detrimental on our wallets while we are trying to get financially ready for the holiday season.
I went on the great search to find slow cooker recipes. Preparing dinner in a slow cooker means you can set it and walk away. When it’s dinner time it’s ready to eat.
When the schedule gets busy the slow cooker is the only way I can still offer semi healthy homemade meals that are budget friendly. I love cooking in my slow cooker. Sometimes I feel like I need a couple of crocks to put in it so that I can cook and store leftovers several times a week.

I have owned many slow cookers in my life and I prefer the Hamilton Beach slow cookers. Below are links to 2 different slow cookers.
Hamilton Beach Set ‘n Forget Programmable Slow Cooker With Temperature Probe, 6-Quart. This slow cooker is really easy to use plus programmable which makes it wonderful for cooking roasts or roasting a chicken.
Hamilton Beach Stay or Go 6-Quart Slow Cooker. This is the one I currently use and it works great. It’s easy to use and offers a wonderful keep warm function. If your food is done cooking you can turn it to the warm function to keep it warm until you’re ready to serve.
Both crockpots are great. The keep warm function on the second makes it super easy to keep dips warm for parties. The first one is ideal if you roast a lot of chicken or make a lot of pot roasts.
While we all love the ease of using a slow cooker to make dinner, a lot of us hate cleaning our crockpot. I have a great tip on how to get your crockpot sparkling clean in no time and with hardly any scrubbing. Scroll to the bottom for more on how I clean my crockpot.

Before we go I’m going to give you my #1 crock pot cleaning tip. This tip makes cleaning your crockpot easy without scrubbing and leaves it sparkling clean.
Baking Soda is my secret. After one particular crockpot meal I had some pretty crusted on food along the sides of my crockpot. Not feeling like scrubbing I filled the crockpot with piping hot water and sprinkled a bit of baking soda in it. I let it sit until the water was cool enough to handle.
All it took was a quick wipedown with a green scrubby side of my sponge and all the crusted on bits came right off with ease. A quick wash with dish soap and my crockpot was sparkling without any major issues.
